Life Lately

 Life Lately

It’s been a while since my last blog post, I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without writing ! I’m ready to fill you in with all the changes and what’s been happening lately….

Ivf Treatment

Back in April we started IVF treatment, we had no idea what to expect, how long the process would be, how it would all feel and most certainly what the outcome would be. If you follow me on Instagram you will of course been updated on there…

I had lots of tests and procedures done, I started IVF medication which was so daunting especially when I had to inject myself with stimulants. I was put on so many medications to help my body produce those tiny eggs ready for treatment. I had to inject myself at set times every day for over two weeks, it was exhausting yet exciting at the same time. On top of that we had to travel to the fertility clinic to have monitoring scans done, they checked my follicles which is where the eggs are created inside your ovaries. At first they were measuring really small, with the medication they increased which is what the nurses were hoping for. After all the medication my tummy was so so bloated, it felt horrible and I was in so much pain. I had to wait for my egg collection day to feel normal again, preparing for that was horrible, no perfumes, no makeup, you literally just had to have a clean body for them to do the treatment. I was given pain relief drugs and a sedative ready for the procedure…..during the whole process I felt everything, the sedative didn’t work and I wasn’t in pain just uncomfortable. After the procedure we were told we had 11 eggs which was great as they were looking for around 13, we then got told they were going to use ICSI to try and fertilise those eggs. ICSI is a process where the embryologist injects the male sample directly into the egg. A day alter we were told we had 5 fertilised eggs which was absolutely amazing. I wasn’t expecting a lot and to get 5 was crazy! Over the course of the next two days we were told how they were developing and the grades…

That same week we had our embryo transfer, I was tired, happy and nervous at the same time. The morning of the transfer the embryologist decided to transfer 2 eggs which she felt were the best of the bunch. I had no idea our transfer would come around so quickly, the procedure was around 20 minutes or so and was so much better than the egg collection. We came out of the fertility centre in disbelief, we were technically PUPO(Pregnant Until Proven Otherwise)! We were given some advice about what to do next and of course the date to test. I ate healthy, took it easy, tried not to think about a result too much during the two week wait and then it was test date..

JUNE 6TH 2019 I got a positive pregnancy test, I took it in the morning to get more of an accurate reading! I was in shock, I didn’t think in a million years would it be positive. About a week before my positive test I had what’s called an implantation bleed, which made me think I was as I was also having other symptoms  too. A few days after the positive test, I started having concerns, my symptoms weren’t there as much as they were when I took the test. I started getting worried as our first scan had been booked. I decided to take another test a week after the positive and I just went into the tears when I looked at the test, it said NOT PREGNANT! After seeing my very first positive pregnancy test I just broke down, what the hell just happened? Good job I have family that understand all this and have definitely experienced this, I had what’s called a chemical pregnancy which is a very early miscarriage, I was 5 weeks and three days. It seems so along ago but it was only a month ago, just proves that IVF isn’t always the answer, even though this was our first round of treatment I’m not giving up HOPE just yet….

Moving Into Our First Home

I announced this year that we were also looking for our first home together, a bigger space and possibly somewhere to bring up a baba! At the same time as our treatment we were looking at some properties too, everything was just happening at the same time, doing this all around work as well was so so tiring! We eventually found somewhere and sealed the deal about the same time as my positive pregnancy test. I had lots of plans for the baby’s room now that’s all going to have to wait because we decided to make that into a his and hers office kinda room, it actually looks quite cute but it’s not finished just yet. The OH has his computer in there as well as his speakers, keyboards and gadgets etc. On the other side I’ve added a desk with some cute pinky girly items and the most gorgeous chair I’ve ever seen (I put a sneak peek on my insta stories)…

I tok a few photos of the house already and popped them on my Instagram, if you haven’t seen them go along to my feed @leighannesheila

In the lounge I decided to go for a boho scandi style space, I’m in love with how it is so far. All the plants and greenery make it look brighter, the decor is neutral as well which makes the room look bigger and cleaner. I was going to add some pink in the lounge but don’t think the OH would have agreed as my bedroom has pink in too. I actually love the mantle piece in the lounge and of course the laminate flooring. I can’t wait until the autumn and winter when I can style the mantlepiece to match the season, so exciting. I also added my storage trunks from Beautify in the lounge to give it a bit more of a  vintage vibe. The ladder shelf I got is from Wayfair and I’m absolutely in love with it, all those plants on there looks so so cute…

Our bedroom is absolutely gorgeous, it’s such a shame the walls are neutral as in our other house I had painted the walls pink which I don’t fancy doing here just yet. The bedroom is double the size of the one we had before so there’s much more space to move around and add more furniture too. I’m currently looking for some more drawers to add all my bath and body products too. I also picked up a mirror from Beautify which you guys have seen on Instagram already, it’s so gorgeous and just adds that extra touch to my beauty space. I also added some prints in the bedroom again, what I had left I’ve popped in my office space. When that’s done I can’t wait to show you guys…
