August Drugstore Favourites

Hey lovelies…can’t believe that summer is now over and another month has passed!! I decided to use a lot of drugstore products in the last month and I was so impressed with what I chose. Most of the time I use drugstore products for work days and leave my high end items for off duty days 🙂

For my base before I apply my foundation I have rediscovered the Loreal lumi magique primer. I remember seeing a lot of beauty guru’s talk about this on youtube and knew I had it in my collection. I just had to try it out again as I wasn’t keen on it at first, now I love it( how strange lol ). You can wear this alone or as a primer. I absolutely love the packaging, it’s simple yet sleek at the same time. You get 20ml for £10.99 at superdrug. It is described as a pure light base which illuminates the skin. When I apply this I only use a little as it goes such a long way. You can definitely see the luminosity it gives. I let it sink into my skin before applying foundation and it looks so nice on the skin. I have recently been using a maybelline foundation for work and the two together are a lovely combo 😉

Once I have applied my foundation and concealer I have been using a setting powder. I have always been so nervous of setting powders especially because it’s a loose powder. I had no clue when it come to applying products like this on your face(I’m no make up artist lol). I was always dubious of these types of products so I watched a few videos on you tube and got some tips. I liked how  some influencers  made it look on their skin and decided to give one product a go.  So I picked up the rimmel match perfection loose face powder in transparent. I also decided to pick up some beauty sponges and applied it the same way with a little fix plus(to dampen it).  What I did notice was that this type of product can get so messy so I tipped a small amount into the lid and then used the beauty sponge to pick it up. I just applied it in my tzone and under my eyes. I then let it set for five minutes or so.  Afterwards I used a powder brush and a pressed powder to set the rest of my face before dusting it off. I’m probably late to the party on this beauty trend but now I’ve tried it a few times the finish it gives is so beautiful, definitely something I’m going to carry on doing (may even pull out my impulse buy the Laura mercier translucent powder).  The powder retails for £6.99 on superdrug guys!! I would recommend this if your looking for a cheaper alternative to a high end product 🙂

To brighten under my eyes I have been using the nyx highlight and contour palette. This is absolutely amazing really. I have been using the banana shade on a daily. I have to have a bright under eye as I suffer terribly with under eye bags (don’t we all). This product is a lifesaver. I had been using my abh contour kit and the shades I used ran out so I knew I had this palette to try. Once I tried it I have not put it down, it’s definitely a staple now.  I think the banana shade will run out first as it’s the most used shade. I have also tried the highlighters and contour shades in it. The highlighters are very subtle and the contour shade I used is just right for my skin tone. The abh palette only has 6 pans where this one has 8. So basically you get a little more bang for your buck ;). In saying that my abh palette lasted a year or more so the longevity is something I can’t comment  on with the nyx one(just yet).  You can pick nyx up at boots guys, the palette retails at £18.00 🙂

For my eyeshadow I have been loving the Tanya Burr eyeshadow palette in Hollywood. I only started adding Tanya Burr products to my makeup collection earlier this year. I think Tanya did a tutorial with this palette on her youtube channel too. I love the colours in the palette, there like bronze mixed with a little gold. So beautiful and the eye look looks gorgeous. I really like adding a little mac fix plus to make the shade enchantment a bit more vibrant.  I had been using this for work throughout august as the shades open up your eyes and make you look more awake. Perfect for early mornings. Tanya’s products have really grown on me and for drugstore price you can’t go wrong with this little palette. Plus the quality is fantastic, it really is. Tanya has killed it with her line. Im super impressed 🙂 I picked mine up on feel unique for just £4.20

On summery days I decided to add a little bronzer and picked up two of Tanya’s products from her chasing the sun collection. Tanya brought out three illuminating powders, one for bronze, one for blush and one for highlight. You don’t have to use them in that way you could totally mix it up. I used the shade warm bronze to put a little colour in my cheeks. I am pleasantly surprised by these, they are so good for the price.  I also picked up the champagne shade for highlight.  I did get the blush shade in peonies please but I still need to try that more. For drugstore and for £7.49 guys these are amazing. If you don’t have them already go and pick them up 🙂 I did a blog post on the whole collection hereif your want to take a look…

For mascara I recently got the new Loreal paradise extatic mascara. OMG this is such an amazing product. I have long lashes and when looking at mascara’s I look for ones that can give them a bit extra length and volume. I saw all the huge hype it got all on social media and when it came into the uk I knew I had to pick one up. The wand on this mascara is lovely and coats your lashes beautifully. It really does work and after applying one coat you can see the difference it makes. It’s perfect for the morning when you have to rush out the door in five minutes. It retails for £11.99 on superdrug here guys 🙂 Loreal have to the best drugstore brand I can rely on for mascara. Most of my masacra collection is Loreal. I absolutely love this product and the packaging is insane <3

I apply lipstick like it’s going out of fashion. I must have so many but in the last month I had been pulling out Tanya’s lipsticks. Tanya Burr released a collection earlier on in the year called neutral ambience (take a look at my post on the neutral ambience here )There was two lipsticks in that collection and  the shade I have been loving is bear hug. For £6.99 the formula is lovely. I really think drugstore items are getting better and can compete with high end products. I love using this for work and carry it around with me most days. Her packaging on the lipsticks is right up my street. The rose gold casing and the magnetic closure is just genius. I really hope Tanya brings out some more shades in her lipsticks too 🙂

Now this would not be a favourites post without a music video. I absolutely love music and have to have it around me on a daily. It makes me feel so much better depending on my mood. A track I have been loving recently is Rich Love by OneRepublic, enjoy the track guys…

Thank you for reading xo
